Sarangoo Tumendemberel

When I first went to the vast plain steppe, I wondered why our city air is not as crisp and fresh as here. The answer was the flora you won’t find in the city - the wild plants and exotic flowers create such aroma in the air. I wanted to recreate those flowers in my room, with a brush on my canvas. I draw them in abstract form, to capture and preserve them in their time of bloom and blossom, sadly aware of the eventual next stage of their life cycle.

Since I get the tips and clues for my art from the rhythms of nature and people, I like to travel to experience the different paces of life, to immerse and feel myself in contrast to the tempo in my own country.

I try to transcend to my audience the “colorhythm” of flowers, to let my viewers feel the unique essence particular to my blooms. I also hope my art motivates my audience to think about preserving nature, to nurture Mother Earth as long as we can … and that is my WHY as an artist.

The university field trips to experience the natural beauty of Mongolia, the places of ethnic and historic significance... The journeys in time to imagine what the monuments were like in their glorious time... These were the roots of Sarangoo’s inspiration to create something that can withstand the test of time, just like the remnants of the old city. Contrast that with her experience as a makeup artist at the Cabaret Theater creating fine lines on faces... the sadness she felt when her work was wiped away after each show, every time... “torn and thrown away”.

She tries to create something that lasts with time...
